The Trials of a Busy Mom

Ultimately, we are all our mothers

Don’t you love it when you hear yourself turning into your mother? This morning, for example, I did the “You’re going to wear THAT?” that used to annoy me so much when my mom did it.

But don’t we all eventually turn into some form of our mothers? Personally, I don’t think that’s such a bad thing.

We only think it’s bad when we’re the kid. When we become adults, we realize what knowledge and wisdom they truly possess. By then, it’s too late to recant our oaths to never become like them!

My mom would say that with a really disgusted tone in her voice. To this day, I cringe when I think about it.

Hey, what’s so bad about that question? I didn’t want to hurt your feelings by saying what I really thought about your outfit. It gave you a chance to explain why you thought what you had on was fine. Right?

It’s the greatest compliment to our mothers if we become like them. And I frequently say to my kids ” You need a light on. How can you read in the dark? You’re going to ruin your eyes.”

Paige…I can still hear your Mom’s voice and see her face when she said that to me once. HaHa!
