About a week ago, a friend called me and said, “We’re going to go and rake leaves! Come with us.” Since we live in a newer subdivision, none of us have big old trees with lots of leaves, so we don’t really get to experience the fun that is raking leaves. So we tossed the kids in the car and drove over a few streets to an older street in our ward, and got out the rakes. Actually, we don’t even own a rake, so we asked if we could use theirs. It was a glorious fall day with the sun still shining and the kids had a wonderful time raking leaves with their friends.
Did I say raking? I meant playing.
Can you find Paige?
Or Natalie?
We had so much fun the kids didn’t want to stop. They raked up ALL the leaves they could find in this one yard, and also from the gutters and even the house across the street. They wanted to go back the next day!
We had to bring 4 bags of leaves home to put in our garden, according to the kids. I don’t think we really need that for mulch, but who was I to say no to a few bags of leaves. The problem wasn’t the leaves in the bags, however, it was the amount of leaves the kids tracked into the car and the house. When they undressed that night, there were even leaves in their underwear. I had to vacuum out the car, since the crunched up leaves were attaching themselves to EVERYTHING.
It was a fun fall free for all!
I am so jealous…I love leaves. I always wished I had a tree that dropped enough leaves for us to play in them like you did…I also wish my trees that I am attempting to grow would quit dying…but anyway… I love the sound of the crunch of a good Mulberry leaf. What great photos!
P.S. That’s quite the shot of John kicking the little boy…Ouch! I bet his voice will be a bit higher for awhile…
we had a fun time raking this past week. hey, i was wondering if you could give me a little info on reflections. we are new to the school thing. my little boy is in kindergarten and wants to draw a picture. do we have him draw something that ties in with the theme of “i can make a difference by. . .”? i am kind of confused.
thanks! diane
I am with you – new subdivision – no leaves. We had to ask a house near by if we could take fall pix in their yard! Looks so fun – thanks for sharing!
These are fabulous pictures!
Wonderful pictures! Sooo many leaves! I wish we had a yard with leaves to play in.
Raking leaves is such a fun thing! I haven’t raked leaves like that since I was a little kid. We had a big old oak in our backyard, it was so much fun! Great pictures!
It looks fun! I miss that from when I was a kid too. I don’t think my kids have ever played in a proper amount of leaves!
How much fun is that!! Oh my gosh, the leaves haven’t even changed on our tree. By the time they do it’ll be too COLD to go jump in them!
Beautiful pictures. Sounds like lots of fun. My experience has been to rake all morning, bag, and then my back hurts. Then the next day there’s more leaves all over the lawn, but no time to rake that day so they have to wait. We’ve raked about 10 times this fall. But at least the weather has been good and we haven’t had to rake up wet leaves.
