The Trials of a Busy Mom

Two hours is a very long time

A very long time, indeed, when you’ve got six 3-year olds at your house for playgroup. But if that’s the price I have to pay for 5 other week with two hours of freedom, then I will suck it up and host playgroup.

But, we survived intact. No major injuries to speak of, and all the children left happy (returning to their happy refreshed mommies who also enjoyed the last two hours.

And on a completely unrelated topic, I have a special talent. When I’m feeling down about myself and can’t think of anything good to say or think about me, I will remember this talent. When people are talking about unusual skill or talent, I can now pipe right up. My talent? I am an exceptionally fast showerer. I know. You are so totally impressed! Yesterday, I got out of exercise class at 10:40. John’s preschool ends at 11:00. I had 20 minutes to run home, strip out of my sweaty clothes, take a shower (I even shaved my legs), dry, get dressed and get back to pick up John by 10:59. Yes, I was impressed with my abilities, too. No, I didn’t say my hair was dry or my makeup was on, but I was dressed in something other than a bathrobe, and I made it there ON TIME to pick him up. I know you wish you were as talented as me! What secret talents do you have?

I’m very good at interrupting people while they are talking. It is a talent I have had for years. Some people don’t appreciate it and don’t appreciate the wisdom I interrupt them with, but others–particularly shy people like that they don’t have to worry about carrying a conversation. I think yours is more useful.

Jacob says I make “Miracle Bread”….when I do it right, I make a mean loaf of bread!

I too take extreemely fast showers–but then I hate to be wet and it is such a waste of time although socially required. I hate swimming, sweating, etc. The only exception is running through the rain splashing in the puddles with bare feet. So I totatlly understand the quick shower thing, kind of like going to the bathroom, such a waste of time but necessary if you want to keep eating–which I do!
